While I often find anthologies to be much like Forrest Gump's box of chocolates-- even if you like it as a whole, you never know exactly what you'll get out of each story-- Agatha Christie's work is polished and clean enough that the whole thing evened itself out. Fans of Christie's established characters get their doses of Poirot, Miss Marple, and Tommy & Tuppence, and even the lesser-known Mr. Satterthwaite gets a turn.
Most interestingly, the first story in the collection is the rarely anthologized "Three Blind Mice", a story which has only ever been published in the US. "Three Blind Mic" forms the basis of "The Mousetrap", a stage play which ran continuously in London's West End from 1952-2020 (until forced to close by the Covid-19 pandemic), and which has a reputation for swearing audiences to secrecy about the twist ending. Be warned!
That said, every story is a polished gem, even if any particular gem isn't quite to your tastes. While I often find anthologies to be much like Forrest Gump's box of chocolates-- even if you like it as a whole, you never know exactly what you'll get out of each story-- Agatha Christie's work is polished and clean enough that the whole thing…
